Philosophies, Curriculum, and Developmental Practices
Our developmental practices are largely based upon the care of the senses; the development of mind and body; and the nourishment of a healthy social life.  We have based our philosophies on contemporary research, the insight of scientists and educators, Waldorf early childhood research, feelings of the heart, and common sense.  We feel that our practices will enhance growth and development in language, social, emotional, physical, cognition, and creativity.

Our goal is to consist of mixed -age children who will stay together and be cared for by the same caregivers over a several-year period.  Current practice has children being cared for by as many as ten or more providers by the time they are six, moving a child into a different environment with new caregivers with each developmental step the child makes.  Bonding with adults who provide consistent, loving care is aides in the development of healthy relationships in youth and adulthood.

“The architecture of the brain depends on a series of critical but subtle emotional transactions between an infant and a devoted caregiver...clearly formulating the elusive building blocks of creative and analytical thinking, and the sense of self.”

        (Dr. Stanley Greenspan)

We also place an emphasis on the learning that is cultivated through mixed-age groupings. The younger children learn basic self-care and social skills from the older children, and the older ones learn basic nurturing skills.  And of course we find that the main benefit of having mixed-

ages, is the sense of family that embraces us.
